1. Wood Basics

If you have ever wondered what F17 or MGP 10 mean, this seminar is for you. It will provide an overview of wood terminology and applications for wood materials, the characteristics of wood and their relationship with properties, grading, durability, specification and handling.

It will also include an overview of manufactured wood products such as laminated veneer lumber (LVL).
The session will be presented by associate professor Greg Nolan and Dr Jon Shanks CEng.

2. Inspirational Timber Projects and Systems

This presentation is an overview of the best in wood design and construction – what might be possible with timber building in Tasmania?

Cutting edge practice from around the world is drawn upon covering aspects relating to structural, construction, aesthetic and thermal performance issues of components and systems.

This is presented by Dr Mark Dewsbury and Dr Jon Shanks CEng.
