Women of the forest and timber event in Queensland

The forest and timber industry is male dominated with women only comprising around 5% of the workforce. The Women in Forests & Timber Network (WFTN) in Queensland is a forum where women can meet, exchange ideas and have their voices heard. WFTN is holding a fundraiser to promote their cause and to support Friends with Dignity Australia. Source: Timberbiz

Friends with Dignity is a national not-for-profit community organisation that provides assistance to women, men and children who have been displaced by domestic violence and assists them to rebuild their lives.

The cocktail event is also a wonderful opportunity for women working in the industry to get together and to meet with others in the industry including the men working in forestry and timber as well as friends and family.

The event will be held on Saturday 24 August from 2pm until 5pm in the Plantation room at The Pineapple Hotel, Main street Kangaroo Point, Queensland. Entry is $30 per person which includes food and drink on arrival plus a donation to Friends with dignity. RSVP by 19 August.

The event is supported by MEGT, Wilson Timbers, ARK Softwoods, TABMA and timber Queensland.
