“In the past, forest industries haven’t always recognised the enormous contribution women have made in all manner of positions in our industry,” AFPA CEO Ross Hampton said.

“We’ve come a very long way in recent years, but AFPA will make sure this September, that recognition of women is front and centre at our Gala Dinner and National Awards,” Mr Hampton said.

The Woman in Forest Industries Award of Excellence will be the centrepiece prize at the event, which coincides with AFPA’s 10th Anniversary celebrations – to take place in Parliament House’s Great Hall.

Nominations for all National Forest Industry Awards opened this week. The five awards are:

  • Woman in Forest Industries Award of Excellence.
  • Emerging Leader of the Year.
  • Innovation in Health and Safety.
  • Innovation in Business
  • Innovation in Training.

Mr Hampton said the awards are an excellent opportunity for recognition across the supply chain of Australia’s forest industries.

“I strongly encourage our forest industries businesses and organisations to think hard about their people who go above and beyond in furthering the cause across the different categories – then put them forward for these awards,” he said.

“The Gala Dinner at Parliament House’s Great Hall will be an important occasion for forest industries nationally, and these major awards are big part of it.”
