To be held on 13 April as part of the AUSTimber celebrations, the industry is keen to recognise the people who have helped make, mould and motivate throughout the years and who have played a pivotal role in the success of what is truly a sustainable industry.

“We need nominations,” said organiser David Drane (former AFCA GM).

“To be eligible to be nominated and inducted onto the members roll the criteria is simple, harvesting and/or haulage contractors must have been working in the industry for a minimum of 25 years and must have made a significant contribution to the growth and development of the industry.”

There are also categories within the Hall of Fame to recognise Industry Icons who have made outstanding contributions to the industry.

Any member of the Hall of Fame is eligible to be recognised as an Icon, and to date 11 pioneers have been acknowledged in this way, in addition to more than 150 industry veterans from across Australia whose names are inscribed on the Members Roll.

“Having another Hall of Fame dinner in conjunction with AUSTimber is an ideal opportunity to recognise our industry pioneers,” says AFCA Chairman Ian Reid.

“We did so as part of the last AUSTimber in Mt Gambier when over 160 people attended a sold out function, and our 2016 event gives us another opportunity to come together and acknowledge some more of those who helped make our industry what it has become.”

Further details of the 2016 function will be announced, but at this time the priority is in locating those who are eligible to be inducted.

If you know of anyone who you believe is worthy of being inducted please contact David Drane on 0413 997 257 or email: [email protected], or write to him at PO Box 242 Morwell Vic 3840.

The closing date for nominations is 29 February 2016.AUSTimber2016-rgb
