“Thank you to everybody who sent us beautiful photos from their walk in the woods. It’s great to see Danish nature in so many shades. We hope you have come closer to the forest and closer to PEFC,” said Sune Enevoldsen, Project Coordinator of PEFC Denmark.

He was part of the jury, together with Palle Thomsen, CEO of Danish Building Centres, and Naja Bertolt Jensen, last year’s winner of the Danish contest.

The winner of PEFC Denmark’s contest is Sanne Rosenmay with the photo ‘Smukt lys i skoven’ (‘Beautiful light in the forest’).

“A morning when the mist was still between the trees, when the first rays of the sun hit the forest floor. It gives the most beautiful, most magical experience of the forest colours,” she explained.

“The incidence of light gives a very warm feeling. When you see the image, the first impression is that it was taken in a warmer climate. It is only when you begin to explore the image, which it invites you to do, that you realise you are in a Danish forest,” added jury member Naja Bertholt Jensen.

“As you explore the photo, you find small, intriguing hidden details, like the spider webs being hit by sunlight and the old dry ferns glowing like gold.”

Sanne Rosenmay also took second place with the photo ‘Grøn grøngrøn’ (‘Greengreen green’),taken during a walk in late spring.

“The image draws you outinto the woods, and you feel like you are there, lying on the forest floor, looking up at the tree crowns swaying in the wind. It’s pure therapy,” explains Sune Enevoldsen from PEFC Denmark.

Third place went to Jimmy Bekkevold for the photo ‘Vart är vi på väg’ (‘Where are we going?’).

His photo, showing a dirt road winding through the beautiful countryside, has a very special message, as the photographer explains.

“Where are we going? What’s around the next corner? This image makes me think about the future, you never know what lies ahead. But I hope and believe that we will make the Earth a better place.”

“This early spring image, which captures the work of winter, gives a good impression of the end of the season and the new year that is about to begin. The damp tree and wet grass give a very sensual impression, where you can almost smell the disappearance of winter,” adds Naja Bertholt Jensen.
