Greg Fraser, executive director and CEO of PHA, the national coordinator of plant biosecurity in Australia, said that the new site will be a great resource.

“We wanted the new site to make all of the biosecurity preparedness information that has been developed over the years more readily available,” said Fraser.

“Our industry and government members have worked with us to formulate a suite of useful resources improving Australia’s preparedness for nasty exotic pests: biosecurity plans, pest fact sheets, contingency plans for particular pests and farm
biosecurity manuals for farmers.

“There’s a page dedicated to each industry and on each there is information about pests for that crop as well as links to all the biosecurity plans, manuals and resources of relevance.

“It showcases the effectiveness of Australia’s government-industry biosecurity partnership.”

The site consists of 150 pages containing a wealth of information on plant biosecurity in Australia and pictures and details of over 400 plant pests, together with the latest biosecurity news and easy access to key documents such as the National Plant Biosecurity Strategy and PLANTPLAN.
