With more than 50,000 people currently waiting to access social housing in New South Wales, Australia’s largest modular construction company, ASX listed Fleetwood Australia, echoed the Minister’s statements stating that modular is, at a minimum, 50% faster in the build process than traditional construction, offering a cost efficient and precise building process.

Fleetwood Australia CEO, Bruce Nicholson, said Fleetwood had the capacity to deliver up to 1500 new homes annually, with seven factories providing the nation’s largest manufacturing capacity.

“Housing shortages in New South Wales are at crisis level and Fleetwood Australia is committed to working with Governments, housing providers and community developers to tackle the issue,” he said.=

“With community and social housing in critically short supply, Fleetwood’s modular designs can be delivered up to 50 per cent faster than traditional construction. Our build times are measured in weeks and months rather than years, which is of vital importance for people who are doing it tough. The factory-controlled builds also mean on-time delivery is more guaranteed as we are not subject to on-site and environmental factors that often cause lengthy delays and can’t always be predicted.

“There is no faster way than modular building to swiftly deliver the volume of housing needed in New South Wales.

“Our 2023 housing designs are ready to go. The new range meets new Liveable Housing Design Guidelines and the National Construction Code, with the quality homes rivalling traditionally constructed design.”

Mr Nicholson said Fleetwood’s factory-based manufacturing process offered many advantages.

“The factory manufacturing environment provides allows greater quality control and safer construction and because we’re building entire modules off-site and then delivering virtually completed homes for installation. This also means disruptions to the surrounding community are also minimised,” Mr Nicholson said.

“Fleetwood Australia and modular construction can’t address all of the issues associated with the housing crisis, but I am certain we can be an important part of the solution.”
