Latvian plywood heads to the aid of Turkey

In the coming days, Latvijas Finieris, a manufacturer of plywood products in Latvia, will send a shipment of birch plywood products worth EUR 50,000 to the regions affected by the devastating earthquake, to express its solidarity with the people of Turkey. Source: Timberbiz

The aid is organised and coordinated in close cooperation with Riga Wood Orman Ürünleri San.Tic.Ltd.Sti, the sales and product development office of Latvijas Finieris in Turkey, and its head, Beyhan Acar.

‘We have had our own Riga Wood sales office representing us in Turkey since 2012, and the country is a significant market for us, with many loyal, long-standing customers. My deepest condolences go to the families of the victims and to the people of Turkey,’ Jānis Ciems, board chairman of Latvijas Finieris, said.

The donation will mainly consist of birch plywood, as it is a versatile material that has a broad range of applications in earthquake relief and in the construction of temporary shelters.

The company has also been assisting with the war efforts in Ukraine with every cubic meter of birch veneer log purchased in Latvia the company redirects 5 euros to support the people of Ukraine.
