Joint project cleans up Ourimbah State Forest

A joint clean-up project of Middle Ridge in Ourimbah State forest has seen contractors, police, Regional Illegal Dumping (RID) Squad, Aboriginal Community and Forestry Corporation of NSW join forces onsite to remove dumped rubbish and car bodies. Source: Timberbiz

This work will benefit the forest’s health, cultural values and road infrastructure, said Forestry Corporation Partnerships Leader, Michael Hill.

“Prior to the recent partial road closure on Middle Ridge Road, the site was a hot spot for illegal activity and dumping,” Mr Hill said. “Now that we have cleaned up the site, we will close the final gate at Middle Ridge Road to prevent access to all vehicles.

“This is a great outcome for the health of the forest and its culturally significant sites; not to mention neighbours, police and forest users wanting to do the right thing.”

Forestry Corporation will assess the road closure at a later date, balancing the need to protect the forest from illegal activity, with the site’s recreational value.
