According to Safe Work Australia, the preliminary deaths year-to-date sits at 19. The industry can be hazardous, and extra care must be taken.

Hazards range from manual tasks, extreme weather conditions, exposure to sunlight and slips trips and falls, to name a few.

It is the responsibility of the Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU) that workers and other persons are not exposed to health and safety risks arising from the activities of their business. Workers too have a responsibility to ensure they are performing safe work practices and not causing harm to those around them.

Regularly revising key safety issues helps to create a safety culture amongst workers by having safety remain top-of-mind in a bid to reduce injury and fatality wherever possible.

To assist, Pro-Visual Publishing in conjunction with the National Safety Council of Australia (NSCA) Foundation, Australian Forest Growers (AFG) and the Institute of Foresters of Australia (IFA) have released the 2020/21 edition of the Forestry Sector Guide to Workplace Safety.

The Guide is a 1m x 1m Augmented Reality (AR) poster, ideal to use as a resource for safety training meetings, as well as to serve as a constant visual reminder of the key issues.

Protection of workers in the forestry industry has never been more important and now thanks to digital innovations such as AR, implementing a safety culture is made easier by providing access to engaging content.

By downloading the free Pro-Vis AR app, workers can use their smart device to scan any AR capable content to access additional PDF files and web-links in real-time.
