FWPA calling for directors to join its board

Forest & Wood Products Australia (FWPA) is seeking nominations for two non-executive directors to join its board in 2020, with expressions of interest open until 10 July as each year sees the completion of three-year terms of some directors. Source: Timberbiz

An independent director selection committee established under the constitution will consider proposals for candidates to be voted in. The committee consists of representatives from three national associations; the Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA), the Australian Timber Importers Federation (ATIF) and the Engineered Wood Products Association Australasia (EWPAA) and one nominee and one non-voting chair from the FWPA board.

Three directors are finishing three-year terms in 2020; Jim Henneberry, Brian Farmer and Christine Briggs. Each has only completed two successive terms and so will have the opportunity to re-apply.

This year, FWPA is seeking to appoint two directors to the board at the upcoming AGM abd so they are looking for interest from individuals with skills in the following areas:

  • Conservation and management of natural resources.
  • R&D experience, innovation, technology transfer and commercialisation of R&D outcomes, particularly in respect of agricultural products.
  • Commerce, including domestic and international market development, and domestic and international trade.

Prospective board members should be able to demonstrate strategic thinking and an understanding of financial statements at a director level. Previous board experience and/or Australian Institute of Company Directors qualifications will be considered favourable.

FWPA has appointed Richard Evans of Talent Nation as the new secretariat and the advertisement is at https://talentnation.com.au/job/non-executive-directors/

For more information contact Mr Evans on 03 9600 0115 or via email on [email protected]

To submit an expression of interest, include a covering letter outlining the interest in this position alongside a short summary of the areas you believe you can add the most value to the FWPA board.

Expressions of interest will close at 5.00pm on Friday 10 July 2020.
