National Carpenters Day is a celebration of the contribution that carpenters make to the environment, business and community. It is also an initiative designed to raise awareness of the benefits of wood and encourage its use.

In Melbourne on Friday 20 July at Federation Square Australia’s favourite trade – the chippy, will celebrate with a free breakfast barbecue for carpenters and the public from 6.30am – 10.30am.

Australia’s National Carpenter of the Year and Apprentice Carpenter of the Year will be announced amid a carnival-like atmosphere.

Other fun activities will include the ‘Carpenters Nail It Harder Challenge’, a Kiss a Chippy on the Cheek booth, a Chin Up Challenge and a Perfection Challenge. There’s also a chance to win a $1000 travel voucher.

There will be prizes and giveaways as well as appearances by Lee Holdsworth and Hayley Swanston – V8 racing car drivers.
