As these awards are New Zealand’s only Timber Design Awards, there was a great response to enter the Awards again for 2014.
Thirty-five projects have been selected as stage one finalists.
These have gone through to stage two judging, which will then select the highly commended and winners of each category.
These winners will be announced at a presentation awards evening on 18 March 2014 at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor in Wellington.

The caliber of entries was of a high standard. The innovation and versatility of designs constructed in wood demonstrate the quality, resilience, acoustics, structural strength and sustainability that wood offers.
Sponsors of this year’s Timber Design Awards were Resene as a major sponsor with category sponsors are: Lumberworx, Hunterbond, Nelson Pine Industries, Timberlab Solutions Ltd, Carter Holt Harvey, NZ Timber Design Society, MiTek, NZ Farm Forestry Association, LONZA and Ministry of Primary Industries.
The Judging panel is:
• Daniel Scheibmair – president of NZ Timber Design Society.
• David Sheppard – president of NZ Institute of Architecture.
• Duncan Joiner – chief architect at the Department of Building and Housing.
