Don’t miss out on Gottstein Trust grants

Applications for 2023 Gottstein Trust grants close on May 5.

“We do urge industry HR managers, small business owners, executives and operation managers bring these great opportunities to the attention of company staff, if they haven’t already,” said Suzette Weeding, Gottstein chair. Source: Timberbiz

The grants are available for individuals working in the Australian forestry products sector or studying in a relevant field.

There are three types of grants. Skill Development Support has no set pre-requisites and is open to anyone who wants to build their skills and is working at any level; the Gottstein Fellowship generally supports early to mid-career individuals to undertake a specific project that they believe will benefit the industry and entails a study tour; and the Scholarship is for TAFE and University students.

Kieran Hayes, who works with Xlam based in Melbourne was successful with a Skills Development Grant application last year and hasn’t looked back.

“The grant opened exciting new horizons for my career,” he said.

Ms Weeding said that being able, as an individual, to pursue avenues that build skills and knowledge was proven to boost professional capacity and confidence, all of which can add up to a career boost.

Harry Mills found his Gottstein Fellowship experience “immensely helpful”. His Fellowship was an international project about making the most of underutilised timber to support a circular economy. Eligibility criteria and online application forms at www.gottsteintrust.org
