Davids Timber launches their innovative LOSP treatment plant

On Friday 18th November, Davids Timber, Victoria’s leading outdoor timber wholesalers, launched their new Light Organic Solvent Preservative (LOSP) treatment plant at their factory in South Dandenong. MC’d by Tony Wilson, of Race Around the World fame, and launched by the Hon. Louise Asher, Minister for Innovation, Services and Small Business and Minister for Tourism and Major Events, the event highlighted Davids Timber’s ongoing commitment to both the continued improvement of their product and to the timber manufacturing industry in Australia.
In close partnership with Osmose, a world leader in the production of preservatives, Davids Timber have constructed a state-of-the-art LOSP H3 and H2F treatment plant. The innovative process ensures that the timber does not warp or expand during treatment and retains its pre-treatment properties. Once treated it is resistant to insects and weathering, making it ideal for use right across Australia in a vast range of exterior and outdoor applications. Emerging from the LOSP plant as either bright blue or green in colour, dependent upon the treatment, the timber can be painted or stained, or allowed to weather naturally.
There was a definite buzz in the air throughout the launch, with both David and Maurice Efron addressing the sizeable crowd with understandable pride in their achievements. A 22-year-old business, Davids Timber have flown in the face of the slump in the timber industry and have created a viable concern through sheer hard work and persistence. A strong belief in the need for innovation and forward thinking has been a large part of the success of the company. Now employing 40 people and running their own mill in Broadford, Davids Timber is yet one more example of what can be achieved by the timber industry in Australia, against the odds.
