Canadian Architect Taggart is visiting New Zealand as a keynote speaker at the NZ Institute of Forestry (NZIF) Conference in Christchurch.

Taggart teaches history and theory in the architectural science degree program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology and is the editor of Sustainable Architecture and Building magazine.

He has also delivered more than 80 professional development seminars on behalf of the Canadian Wood Council in North America.

One of the themes of the NZIF conference, which will be held from 2-4 July, is Engineered – Wood Products – Building the Future of Forestry.

Multi-storey engineered-wood buildings are on the rise, while in New Zealand three companies are leading the way in engineered wood products, competing with concrete and steel in multi-storey, long-span and insulated, pre-fabricated building design.
