Back to the future with a wooden wheeled bicycle

How many kinds of craziness exist in the world. One YouTuber has decided to go backwards in time and make a bicycle with wooden wheels. Source: Timberbiz

The wheels were cut out of 18mm ply with two of these circles glued together to form each wheel.

He built the bicycle and then tested it in different terrains including a concrete jumps area, a dirt track and over a number of obstacles. What is most surprising is that the bike wheels did not break apart but withstood even high jumps and the inevitable falls.

However, they do lack one important feature; there is no give in a wooden wheel so the landings can be quite harsh.
