Australian packaging paper price index moves up

The table below shows the most recent movements in the IndustryEdge Australian Packaging Paper Trade Price Indexes, based in Australian dollars.

Examining the difference in prices for the quarter ended January 2023, compared with prices a year earlier, the All Packaging index is up 23.5%. Containerboard grade prices increased on average 33.2% across the year, while Cartonboard was up 23.5%, as evident in the charts below.

IndustryEdge uses three-month moving average indexes to smooth out monthly movements that can be misleading. These indexes provide a useful and immediate image of the recent trade price trends. The index base is January 2017 = 100.
