Lee Carmichael Town Planning has made the application for specialist home fabrication and construction company Strongbuild, to relocate its current operations from Berry to new facilities on land on the western side of the mill’s operation.
Strongbuild proposes to purchase the site from Australian Paper, which has owned the land since 1954.
The land has remained vacant and rural since 1903 but has been used for growing grass and crops by local farmers.
The 30,000 square metre facility would contain three workshops, one factory building and adjoining offices.
The workshops will house a variety of timber processing equipment, and would operate 24 hours a day, as business demands warrants into the future.
The new complex would also provide 83 car parking spaces.
Strongbuild currently operates out of premises at Old Creamery Road, where it fabricates and assembles a variety of building elements for construction.
