  1. 290 million GMT – Australia’s pulp mills used a calculated 5.290 million green metric tonnes (GMT) of wood in 2018-19
  2. Softwood = 4.2 million GMT – almost 4.2 million GMT of softwood chips were used to make pulp in 2018-19
  3. Hardwood = 1.1 million GMT – more than 1.1 million GMT of hardwood chips were used to make pulp in 2018-19
  4. 76.2% into chemical pulp – more than 4.0 million GMT of woodchips was used in the production of chemical pulps
  5. 23.8% into mechanical pulp – almost 1.7 million GMT of woodchips was used in the production of mechanical pulps
