Statewide Biomass Assessment

biomass

Sustainability Victoria is conducting a state-wide biomass assessment as part of a national project currently underway to identify biomass resources for bioenergy across Australia (Australian Biomass for Bioenergy Assessment Project, ABBA).  Source: Timberbiz

This project will look at opportunities to recover value from biomass residues and how the Victorian Government can provide support to benefit the industry.

VAFI members have been invited to take part in the survey. It takes around 10 minutes to complete and includes tables for respondents to estimate the types, amounts and characteristics of products, and residues produced.

To acknowledge commercial sensitivities there is an option to keep information confidential.

This data will be aggregated up to local government or regional level (i.e. not presented as data from single businesses).

You can also respond anonymously if you wish.

Results of the survey will be publicly available in the form of an interactive map located at: http://nationalmap.gov.au/renewables/.

This map will show the types and amounts of residues available across different regions.

This information will enable biomass producers and users to develop opportunities and will allow state and federal Government to assess potential benefits and understand needs.

To take part in the survey please log in with the following link: ABBA Biomass Survey.

Responses are due before the end of December 2016.

If you would prefer to do the survey by phone or email, please contact Barrie May 0402 948 428 or [email protected]
