This new event, which will be held in September next year will be in Albury, New South Wales on September 3-5 and in Rotorua , New Zealand on September 11-13.

This expo builds on a series of independent technology programs run by the Forest Industry Engineering Association (FIEA) that has been running for 13 years.

“Already we’re fielding enquiries from local companies and a wide cross section of major technology providers from throughout North America and Europe,” said FIEA director Brent Apthorp.

A German company involved in international woodworking expos has been contracted to work with FIEA to encourage equipment and product suppliers from Europe to attend.

“We’re finding interest is being triggered by WoodEXPO 2013 being quite different from any other show or event in this part of the world,” said Althorp.

FIEA staff travelled to North America’s new Timber Processing & Energy Expo in Portland in mid October where around 200 exhibitors showcased the latest machinery and services for producers of lumber, plywood, engineered wood products and wood energy.

A number of companies exhibiting at Portland have express interest in next year’s WoodEXPO and sponsorship packs have been sent to around 5000 potential exhibitors.
