Trees for Mums on Mother’s Day

Since 2002 when Trees for Mum was created, more than 30,000 sons and daughters have planted trees for their mums, mostly as a tribute to mums who have passed away. Source: Timberbiz

Thanks to Trees for Mum’s partnership with Landcare Australia, even more people will have the opportunity to plant trees in their communities, nurturing the environment and creating living legacies for so many mums.

Each year new planting sites are created across Australia joining long-running Trees for Mum sites including Mosman, Randwick, North Sydney, Hills Shire, Penrith in New South Wales and Mildura and Woodend in Victoria.

“Trees for Mum began in 2002 as a way for us to remember our mums on Mother’s Day,” said Lauren Adlam, who co-founded Trees for Mum with Deena Raphael.

“What we thought would be a one-off event has now grown into a national celebration of all mothers – for those of us whose mums have died it’s a chance to remember and reflect. For those blessed to have a living mum, planting a tree is a lovely gesture and a great experience to share with family and friends.”
