Timber Queensland free webinar on pre-fab timber buildings

Timber Queensland is continuing to offer free online technical webinar training throughout 2020-21 for any and all participants across Australia who need to obtain CPD points. The next webinar – Pre-fabricated Timber Buildings: how Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DfMA) can manage costs & reduce risk – will take place on 4 November 2020. . Source: Timberbiz

There are now a myriad of Australian and international projects demonstrating how the building industry can utilise offsite timber prefabrication to boost the quality and speed of construction.

The next phase in the evolution of construction methodologies for building professionals is to learn from the manufacturing industry who have successfully applied Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) to understand and reduce product cost.

This webinar will provide an introduction to the DfMA construction paradigm, focusing on ease of manufacture and efficiency of assembly.

Participants will learn how they can be combined to deliver shorter build times and reduce overall project costs, and how decisions made at the project design stage can impact the outcome.

The recently completed Adelaide Oval Hotel is a prime example of a project designed, engineered and constructed utilising the DfMA process.

Built onto the stadium’s façade, hear from the engineers and developers involved who enabled for the hotel to be constructed in its entirety without disruption to any sporting or public activities.

For those wanting to gain insight into the future of “lean” construction, this webinar is not to be missed.
