Twenty-nine people will lose their jobs after administrators failed to find a buyer for the Cambridge-based timber company.

Administrator Barry Hamilton said the company must be wound up. All employees have been notified and will get their entitlements, as well as help finding new jobs.

Managing director Chris Ward said he is not surprised a buyer was not found. He said the company’s troubles show the state’s politicians need to work harder to talk up Tasmania’s economic strengths.

According to Ward businesses will not invest until State and Federal governments do the same.

“I think that our politicians have been sadly lacking in providing any sort of leadership in this regard,” he said.

“There is nothing wrong with the Australian economy, nothing wrong with the Tasmanian economy, in fact, all the indicators are really good.

“Yet people aren’t spending because no-one is talking things up in order to balance all of the pessimists.”
