Sweden’s sawlog stocks higher than 2018

Sweden’s stock survey, the total stocks of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and pulp chips was 10.1 million cubic metres on 30 June this year. That is 36% higher than in the same period last year. Sources: Timberbiz, Lesprom

The stocks of pine and softwood pulp wood was 4.1 million cubic metres which is the highest levels since 2005, according to the Swedish Forest Agency.

The stocks of coniferous sawlogs are estimated to 3.3 million cubic metres on June 30, 2019. That is 34% more than at the same time last year. The stock was larger in the whole country and in the southern part the stock was as much as 58% higher than last year.

The stocks of pulpwood totalled 5.7 million cubic metres, which was 32% more than the same period last year. The stock of pine and coniferous pulp wood was with 4.1 million cubic meters more than twice as large as last year. The largest increase was in the northern part of the country.

The stocks of spruce pulpwood and deciduous pulpwood were 0.8 and 0.9 million cubic metres respectively. It is primarily the stocks at industry and terminal that have increased most.

The stocks of pulp chips were 1.1 million cubic metres. This stock was 32% more than the same period last year. Overall, the stocks of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and pulp chips were 10.1 million cubic meters, which is 36% more than compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
