Summer adds 1000 jobs for Metsa

Metsä Group is hiring nearly 1000 summer employees for the summer of 2022 for a wide range of jobs as the company does every year. Summer jobs in units across Finland provide a comprehensive overview of the forest industry, as well as an opportunity to gain an in-depth knowledge of a specific production unit, business operation or Group function. Most of the jobs are at mills in production and maintenance, as well as in wood supply and forest services within supply districts covering the whole country. Dozens of summer workers from a variety of backgrounds will also be recruited for office jobs in group functions and the various business areas.

“Students from many fields of study can find summer jobs at Metsä – we have many job opportunities for students of engineering, business and natural sciences in particular.

We also consider non-Finnish speaking applicants in our offering of summer jobs, and there are also positions for which Finnish language skills are not an entry requirement at all,” says Pertti Hietaniemi, Metsä Group’s Senior Vice President, HR.

Summer employees’ work includes routine and assisting tasks, larger projects with more responsibility, and development work carried out independently, depending on each summer employee’s own experience and willingness to develop on the job.

Some summer workers may also have the opportunity to write their theses at Metsä Group.

“Last year, our summer employees gave us good feedback on our induction, and big thanks for this go to our experienced induction trainers. Our own personnel warmly welcome new recruits and are happy to share their knowledge. It’s also important that our permanent employees learn from the newcomers themselves, and all summer workers get the opportunity to show us what they can do and are given more responsibility as they gain experience,” added Hietaniemi.
