Sumitomo push into Aussie building

Japan’s home builders are continuing to push into the Australian market, this time with Sumitomo Forestry Co acquiring a controlling 51% stake in Wisdom Properties Group. Source: The Sydney Morning Herald

The Wisdom Group builds home and land packages with Wisdom Homes building about 400 houses annually.

The company has more than 150 employees and 500 construction contractors. Sumitomo Forestry joins a spread of Japanese home builders active in the Australian market, from Sekisui House and Daiwa House through to specialists such as Ichijo Homes, a project home builder.

Sumitomo Forestry was earlier the Henley Property group.
