Stakeholder Engagement Leader Soni Lamond said the tour covered key aspects of softwood production, including establishment, management, harvest, and production.

“Participants saw pines at different phases of growth, active thinning and post-harvest biofuel chipping operations, and learnt about the silvicultural practices used to optimise production of this in demand resource,” Ms Lamond said.

The stakeholders on the tour were Local Government Councillors, a local Shire CEO, an Aboriginal community group, industry colleagues, a plantation neighbour and Forest Products Commission (FPC) staff.

“Thanks to FPC foresters Paul Newman, Greg Hodgson, and Troy Sawyer who acted as tour guides, presenting throughout the tour, both on the bus and in the field,” Ms. Lamond said.
