Setting the standards

A WORK plan to develop a National Standard for Australia has been prepared and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Australia is now seeking funding to support the standard development process. The process will be led by the Standards Development Group (SDG), who will oversee the drafting of the Standard and coordinate public consultation. The SDG will be selected from FSC Australia membership and nominations will close in early February.
FSC International has recently revised the overarching Principles and Criteria for Forest Management Certification. All countries will need to revise their National Standards to transfer the new Principles and Criteria by 2015. International Generic Indicators for forest management are currently being developed to sit under the Principles and Criteria.
