Tim Johnston, CEO of the Victorian Association of Forest Industries (VAFI), said that VAFI is a proud supporter of the Safety Summit, which is focusing on ways to make the industry safer.

“Industry’s greatest resource is its people, and many activities in the forest and wood products industry involve risk,” said Mr Johnston.

“Our members, along with their staff and subcontractors, fully understand the importance of a safe work environment and ensuring that proper precautions are taken at all times.”

The Forestry Safety Summit showcases new practices, systems and tool for improving forestry safety.

“Every worker should operate in a safe environment, both physically and mentally,” he said.

“Safety must be a non-negotiable in the forest and wood product industry and together the industry is focused on local and practical outcomes.”
