Plastic forest in Broken Hill

Residents of Broken Hill woke to a surprise this week, with a Lego forest blooming from the red soil overnight to create a colourful contrast against the vibrant desert landscape. Source: The Australian

Appearing in Broken Hill from July 2 to 12, the Lego forest consists of 15 four-metre tall trees and 15 flower sets.

The trees and flowers are 1:1 in ratio replicas of the original iconic Lego pieces, but over 66 times bigger in size to bring the play world enjoyed by millions of Australian children to life.

In April, the trees sprouted in Martin Place in central Sydney, where office workers were entertained on their way to work.

Now, for the first time, the Lego forest has hit the road and headed out to the red dust plains and blue skies of far-western NSW.

The forest is on display at the breathtaking Living Desert, a unique 2400ha reserve with spectacular views and numerous walking trails allowing visitors to get up close and personal with the forest or climb to a vantage point and marvel at them from afar.

“To have such an iconic brand that so many Aussies grew up with set against the classic Australian outback is a wonderful sight”, said Broken Hill Mayor Wincen Cuy.

“I’m sure both locals and tourists of all ages will have a lot of fun discovering the magic that the forest will bring to Broken Hill.”
