Nominations extended for GTTIA

Nominations were to officially close on Friday but the Green Triangle Timber Industry Awards (GTTIA) committee has extended the closing date by two weeks. It was felt that forestry companies were just gathering momentum and needed that extra time to get behind this inaugural event which has attracted full industry support. Source: Timberbiz

“The inclusion of significant companies all backing the sponsorship of this event has been over whelming” Adrian Flowers, chair of GTTIA committee said.
“We will now accept nominations up to Friday August 31 after which judging will begin.”

The nominees and winners will be celebrated at a formal dinner held at The Barn, Mount Gambier, Friday 26 October with a guest list expected at over 300 people, with comedian and TV entertainer Tommy Little as the master of ceremonies. Tickets are on sale through the website.

“So, if you know of a person or company within the timber industry that deserves to be awarded for their performance or contribution then don’t delay, go directly online to complete the details required,” Mr Flowers said.

“It is not hard to nominate someone, even your own company, it is a step by step process online,” event manager, Prue Younger said.

The Green Triangle is home to Australia’s largest collective plantation and timber processing industry, contributing significantly to Victoria and South Australia, generating more than $778 million Gross Regional Product annually.

In excess of 355,000 hectares of softwood and hardwood plantations produce timber for local manufacturing, national and export markets. The industry underpins some 8500 regional jobs and provides a valuable foundation for businesses and investors.
