New Zealand Forest Expo 2010 postponed

Organizers of the popular four-yearly Forest Industries Expo have made the difficult decision to postpone the 2010 event until the global economic downturn has eased.
Expo manager Dell Bawden said the postponement had been an extremely difficult decision to make, but wasa decision that wasin the best interests of exhibitors and the industry.
“The forest industries sector has always been cyclical in nature and we are confident it will bounce back yet again. This is a key and important New Zealand export sector which continues to make a big contribution to the New Zealand economy,” said Bawden.
“We recognise that due to the current economic environment, businesses need to be focusing on their own operations, without splitting that focus onto a major showcase event.
Bawden saida new date for the expo had not been set, however, the venue had been reconfirmed at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre.
“The Energy Events Centre is a great venue and will bring a whole new element to the Forest Industries Expo. Companies who had booked for FI2010 were very pleased with the new venue and so are we. We’re delighted we now have a venue
like this in Rotorua that will allow us to truly showcase the Expo.
“Once the economy starts to pick up we will continue with the planning and promoting
of the expo. Understandably, it is difficult to say when that is likely to be,” she said
“For now, all we can say is “watch this space!”
