The past four decades have been quite a journey for MTIB as they embarked on a quest to accomplish vision 2020’s mandate of RM53 billion in timber and timber product exports as was outlined in the National Timber Industry Policy (NATIP).

MTIB’s efforts have helped promote sustainable and dynamic growth for the country’s timber industry, thus making Malaysia the largest exporter of tropical sawn timber and plywood.

Malaysia is also the ninth major exporter of furniture in the world.

In conjunction with the 40 year anniversary celebration, MTIB will be hosting sales carnivals and various other events in significant landmarks around Malaysia, which include: Galeri Glulam at Johor Bahru and Rumah Melaka in Malacca.

Some of these events include: An awareness seminar on finishings for wooden furniture, scheduled for June 25 at Glulam, a seminar on structural timber design at Glulam on June 24, a bumiputra furniture carving sale at Sungai Petani Village Mall, Kedah from May 22-June 2 and also a bamboo innovation seminar to be held on June 27 held at Glulam.
