Logging engineer a new Fellow

 

71Logging truck engineer, Lincoln Taylor was awarded a Fellowship of the Institution of Professional Engineers NZ for his leadership in and major contribution to making New Zealand logging trucks and trailers stronger and safer. Sources: Voxy NZ, Australian Transport News (ATN)

He is recognised as a leading designer in the heavy road vehicle industry in New Zealand.

Taylor is a founding member of the Log Transport Safety Council and previously received a New Zealand

Engineering Excellence Award for designing an innovative frame attachment for holding longs on trucks, known as log bolsters, which have a great safety record.

Taylor is credited with having designed, inspected, and certified the manufacture of about 33% of the logging trailers in the New Zealand fleet.

Taylor received the fellowship at an awards dinner held in Wellington on March 13.

He has previously received a New Zealand Engineering Excellence Award for designing a very innovative frame attachment for holding logs on trucks – known as log bolsters, which have a stunning safety record.

He is personally credited with having designed, inspected, and certified the manufacture of approximately one third of the logging trailers in the New Zealand fleet.

It is an opportunity to highlight the great work our engineers do and the positive benefits brought to New Zealand,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Susan Freeman-Greene.

Lincoln was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held at The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa in Wellington, on Friday 13 March 2015.
