LIGNA 2011 technology tour with Weinig and Jacks

Weinig will again conduct a week-long ‘Pre-LIGNA’ tour to demonstrate machinery under working conditions in a range of operations in Sweden, Germany and The Netherlands. Planning is well under way, with visits scheduled to some very special sites, demonstrating the latest technology in use over a range of industries. To accommodate the broad spectrum of tour participants that have already expressed interest, the 2011 Pre-Ligna Tour will consist of two ‘streams’. Three days of the Tour will be joint, whilst allowing another 2 days where participants have a choice of Stream 1 – Window/Fenestration Tour or Stream 2 – Wood Processing/Engineered Wood Products Tour.
Worldwide attention to energy efficiency and sustainability has put timber windows under the spotlight and Stream 1 – visiting The Netherlands – will showcase some of the world’s leading producers of timber windows.
Pushing the boundaries of natural strength, durability and availability, architects and designers are leading the charge with engineered timber products, while at the same time, the use of technology in reducing labour inputs and increasing production will be highlighted in Stream 2.
Visits to the highly advanced Weinig HQ in Tauberbischofsheim and GreCon Fingerjointing factory with a traditional German BBQ lunch will be included.
While this is a working trip, there will be a couple of visits of either cultural or scenic significance as well.
The Tour will depart 21 May and arrive back on 5 June.
As always, demand for the tour is expected to be high, and due to restrictions on site in Europe, numbers will be limited. It is important anyone interested respond as soon as possible, as priority will be given to those who register early. More information on LIGNA 2011 can be found at: www.ligna.de
