India has initiated an investigation into allegedly cheap imports of newsprint originating in or imported from Australia, Canada, the European Union, Hong Kong, Russia, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.

The anti-dumping probe was launched on 20 January upon request of the Indian Newsprint Manufacturers Association (INMA), representing India’s domestic industry.

The product under consideration is newsprint in rolls or sheets, excluding glazed newsprint, according to India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The investigation will concentrate on imports in the period between 1 April and 31 December 2019. The injury investigation will cover the period from 2016 to 2019.
