Heartwood Plantations launch and field tour

An invitation has been extended to all to attend the Heartwood Plantations launch and free field tour on 13 November.

Heartwood Plantations is a vertically integrated forestry organisation that establishes, manages, processes and markets high-value, durable hardwood timber. Heartwood Plantations is a strategic alliance between Woollybutt Pty Ltd and Radial Timber Sales Pty Ltd.

The tour schedule is:

Time: 8.30 am to 3.30 pm

Depart: Radial Timber Sales 12 Park Drive, Dandenong South at 8.30 a.m.

1st Stop: Camdowie Plantation, Glen Alvie 9.45 a.m.

Inspection of spectacular 116ha plantation site established in 2008. Major species include spotted gum and yellow stringybark. Learn about site selection, establishment and early management.

Depart: Camdowie Plantation, Glen Alvie 11.00 a.m.

2nd Stop: Goy Property & Seed Production site, Bunyip 12.00 p.m.

Inspection of a range of durable hardwood species including southern mahogany, spotted gum and yellow stringybark between ages 3 and 9 years. Learn about the source of seed for some of Heartwood Plantations’ trees and management such as thinning and pruning.

Depart: Goy Property, Bunyip 1.30 p.m.

3rd Stop: Radial Timber Sales, Dandenong South 2.15 p.m.

Inspection of a range of timber products and displays. Learn about the processing and application of durable hardwood timber. Realise the market strength of high quality, durable hardwood timber products.

Food: Morning tea, afternoon tea & lunch provided – please inform if special dietary requirements

Required: Walking shoes, sun protection

Transport: Bus provided or self drive
