German softwood lumber output down

The output of rough-sawn softwood lumber across the whole range of assortments fell by 5.1% to a total of 4.122m m3.

According to information from German Destatis the output of spruce lumber was 8.8% below last year’s figure at 3.128m m3.

This reduction was only partially compensated for by an increase of 10.1% in the output of pine lumber and 7.2% in the output of other lumber to 589,854 m3 and 403,483 m3 respectively.

The output of planed products fell by 5.2% to 654,851 m3.

The output of rough-sawn and planed softwood lumber thus decreased by 5.1% to a total of 4.777m m3.

Earnings from sales of lumber and planed products were 6.4% lower than last year at a total of €769.6m.
