FSC extends transition period for national standards

The coronavirus pandemic has been an obstacle for certification bodies that cannot conduct audits as usual. It also makes it difficult for certificate holders to adjust their operational systems to conform with the requirements of new normative documents. Source: Timberbiz

To support a smooth transition, FSC International has approved an extension of the transition period of some national standards.

The extension works as follows:

  • extension up to six months, if the original transition period ended by 31 March 2021.
  • extension up to 31 December 2020, if the original transition period ended by 30 June 2020.

FSC has granted an extension to: Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Namibia, Netherlands, Romania, Spain and Ukraine.

For any queries, please contact the respective FSC national office or the FSC team working on forest management by email: [email protected].

FSC is also extending the transition period to implement some of the requirements in the FSC Pesticides Policy. The transition period now runs until 31 December 2020.

For detailed information on which specific requirements have been granted this extension, please see the interpretation on the transition process to revised FSC Pesticides Policy (INT-POL-30-001_07).
