Forestworks’ new training package projects

The Australian Industry Skills Committee (AISC) has approved three new training packages. Projects and Forestworks is seeking expressions of interest for the Technical Advisory Committee members for the projects. Source: Timberbiz

The three new training projects are:

– New Harvesting Technologies

– Timber Truss and Frame Estimating and Design

– Timber Merchandising

The New Harvesting Technologies Project aims to provide the industry with a mechanism for gaining efficiency and environmental benefits from new and existing technologies. A review and development of units of competencies for the forest management and harvesting sectors will provide this change.

The Timber Truss and Frame Estimating and Design Project will assist with the high demand for design and estimating capabilities. A further review of qualifications and competencies will address the current skill requirements in the timber truss and frame manufacturing industry.

And the Timber Merchandising project will review Certificates II and III, including job roles and skills analysis in the Timber Merchandising industry, which will inform the content of the qualifications.

A more detailed breakdown of these three projects can be found here.
