ForestrySA to host a weekend of forest activities

In November last year six South Australian artists took part in ForestrySA’s ‘Artists in Residence Program’ at ForestrySA’s Thomas Hill Study Centre at Cudlee Creek in the Adelaide Hills. Source: Timberbiz
The Program, developed in conjunction with Mount Gambier’s Riddoch Art Gallery, provided the artists with the opportunity to develop new work through inspiration from spending a week in residence at the picturesque forest reserves of the Mount Lofty Region.
The resulting exhibition entitled “Forest of Dreams” opens at the Riddoch Art Gallery on Friday 22 June and can be viewed by the public until Sunday 29 July. The exhibits are a creative mixture of pieces of dance; sculpture; photography; painting and drawing that were created as a result of the ‘Artists in Residence Program’.
To complement the opening night of “Forests of Dreams”, the artists will be at the Riddoch Art Gallery on Saturday 23 June from 9am until 12 noon for coffee and conversation with the public. This event is free and open to everyone.
Finally, on Sunday 24 June, ForestrySA is offering the public a chance to have a Guided Forest Walk through its Native Forest Reserve and Rehabilitation Programs at the Wandilo Pasture Strip. This event is free and open to everyone, and will be conducted by experienced ForestrySA staff. The walk should take 2 hours, over 3 to 4km, through the pasture strip, biodiversity corridors, native forests, wetlands, and young age plantation.
Walkers will need suitable walking and wet weather gear and are to meet at 9am at ForestrySA’s corporate office to travel in convoy out to the site which will be reachable by 2WD vehicles.
To register your interest for the walk contact ForestrySA on 8724 2888 during business hours by Thursday 21 June.
