The state-owned forest manager said it would “soon begin” its annual planned burns program.

In addition to the 230 regeneration burns, which range in size from a couple of hectares to 100 hectares, Forestry Tasmania said it would be involved in fuel-reduction burns.

The regeneration burns are aimed at regenerating forest after harvest and will take place in areas across the permanent timber production zone.

Forestry Tasmania said the burns would only take place when weather conditions were suitable and smoke would disperse.

Information about planned burns is available from the Forestry Tasmania website and will be advertised in daily and local newspapers.

Information about fuel-reduction burns is available from the Tasmania Fire Service website.
