The new team will be critical to resourcing this body of road infrastructure repair works and interested people in the Casino, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Wauchope, Maitland, Batemans Bay, Eden, Tumut and Bathurst regions are strongly encouraged to apply to be a part of this endeavour, said Forest Infrastructure Project Supervisor, Peter Walsh.

“Early this year this funding was announced for areas of State forests significantly impacted by recent flooding events and in areas declared disaster zones,” Dr Walsh said.

“The damage from ongoing wet weather has been extensive and we need a great team to support this repair program – the largest in our 100 year history.

“The positions and skillsets required for a project like this are varied — if you have experience in operational planning, field supervision, ecological and cultural surveys or engineering, I strongly encourage you to visit our website and find out more.”

Forestry Corporation is recruiting 19 people across NSW to work on the repair program, a substantial boost to regions affected by storms, flooding, fires and COVID over recent years.

“We expect this recruitment drive to contribute around $7.5 million over three years, representing a significant contribution for regional employment and the positive flow on effects from there,” Dr Walsh said.

“We hope to see applications from people with a range of experiences and backgrounds, reflecting the diverse communities where we live and work.”

The NSW Government is supporting this work through a $60 million investment to repair critical road infrastructure including flood-damaged roads, bridges and culverts in State forests.
