Foresters’ scholarship a first class option

Local university student Lauren Pittard-Robb has been awarded the Institute of Foresters of Australia 2008 scholarship. She is studying forestry through Southern Cross University in Mount Gambier.
Pittard-Robb is employed by the South East Natural Resources Management Board and combines her study with her work.
“She was seen by the selection panel as an excellent applicant, who will be a fine addition to the profession once she has completed her course,” said Lew Parsons, the SA chairperson of the institute.
Pittard-Robb expressed her thanks to the institute for its support and said the scholarship would be used to reduce the financial burden of her study.
This is the second year the scholarship has been awarded, with both recipients studying the locally-based Southern Cross University degree program.
“The opportunity to study a university qualification in Mount Gambier and receive support from the local community is well appreciated by the students. SCU acknowledges the support provided through scholarships, traineeships and employment of students while they study for their degree in Mount Gambier,” said Green Triangle SCU coordinator Diana Lloyd.
“Many students would not undertake this study if it were not offered locally and most are able to combine study with employment through the flexibility of the delivery combined with support of employers,” Lloyd said.
