The Annual General Meeting will be held at the TAFE NSW Forest Industry Training Centre on June 21 and will be followed by the FIC annual dinner at the Tumut Bowling Club.

This year’s guest dinner speaker will be the general manager of Tumut Shire Council, Bob Stewart, who will speak about the influence that local Government can have in facilitating growth in the forest industry.

FIC executive officer, David Priem, said FIC has had another growth year and continues to be highly regarded as an effective forest industry association with a focus on safety, training and industry promotion.

Priem said FIC had continued with the Memorandum of Understanding with TAFE NSW Riverina Institute, which had facilitated support to FIC and the extension of Forest Industry Training Centre training and assessment services to around 1700 students across NSW, Victoria and Queensland.

FIC also welcomes new members Scandinavian Forestry and Engineering, Hancock Victorian Plantations, and Tumut Valley Logging.

“That brings FIC membership up to a very healthy 36 businesses across southern NSW and north-east Victoria with a combined direct and indirect value of production of around $1.2 billion a year,” Priem said.
