The slogan comes from a powerful Canadian forestry campaign that’s being adopted across Australia.
Chief executive, Colin McCulloch, said the forestry industry is looking at innovative technologies for bio-energy and biomaterials alongside traditional wood and fibre products.
He said the ‘Wood First’ campaign can embrace the full spectrum of end uses, and help capture higher value markets for forest products.
Colin McCulloch, said it’s a way to increase people’s understanding or the forest and allied industries and stimulate new investment.
“The strength in Wood First is that people will understand what that resource brings to not only the community but the states,” he said. “As we can all see now the federal purses are looking for some additional work as well.”
