Improving our environmental performance across the forest industry brings both challenges and rewards. For the first time, the Environmental Forestry 2022 Conference will bring together a wide range of foresters working on improving industry outcomes.

The conference seeks to facilitate speakers and delegates to share successes and learnings among peers across a range of forest management companies for large and small forest estates.

As a result, delegates can make positive change and learn from each other to establish and improve best practices. Participation and contributions from national and regional regulatory agencies are also welcome

The event will showcase a range of case studies across the forest production cycle from harvest planning to post-harvest audits and impact assessments. Best practices and recent developments will be discussed through shared learnings among industry professionals. A cross-section of forest operations will be included in the range of professional presentations.

The conference agenda will appeal to regional council staff and management from forest company professionals, from small to large forest companies as well as regulatory and policy staff from local councils, Ministry for Primary Industries, NZ Forest Service and the Ministry for the Environment.

This inaugural event focuses on the key issues facing the industry today and into the future.

  1. How can we better control the forestry impacts from weather events today?
  2. What are the future opportunities and challenges for the industry in mitigating
    1. climate change?
  3. Will new Government regulations, like the upcoming Natural and Built Environment legislation changes, impact future planning within the forestry sector?

Environmental Forestry 2022 will also cover key operating practices, innovations and systems that have successfully been employed by forest companies to minimise soil disturbance and the loss of slash from roading and wood harvesting operations.
