The event returns to the Sydney Showground at Sydney Olympic Park this year and will be held from Wednesday April 28 to Friday April 30, 2015.

Some of Austria’s most innovative sustainable building materials will be presented to the Australian building and construction community at this year’s DesignBUILD.

According to Guido Stock, Austria’s Consul General and Trade Commissioner, whose Sydney-based office is responsible for promoting business relations between the two countries, Austria is one of the most densely forested countries in the world with woodland coverage of approximately 50% nationwide.

Mr Stock explained that Austria’s focus on timber as a resource over centuries has seen the country evolve into a world leader in the innovative usage of the sustainable building material.

To be displayed at DesignBUILD 2015 under the banner of Advantage Austria, the suite of world-leading Austrian products and services for the construction of energy-efficient buildings will be introduced by representatives of Austrian companies or their local distribution partners on the show floor and during the event’s Industry Insights seminar.

Visitors to DesignBUILD will learn more about some of Austria’s most advanced sustainable building products including high-tech cross-laminated timber material, which was used in the construction of the Forté Building in Melbourne, the world’s largest apartment building made of timber as well as the new wooden Docklands library in Melbourne.

International exhibitors from 14 other countries including United Arab Emirates and the US will also be showcasing their products at DesignBUILD this year.

The main show floor at DesignBUILD will host more than 200 exhibitors, representing the largest Australian gathering dedicated to the architecture, building, construction and design community. DesignBUILD Interiors, a new offering at the event this year, will be an additional show floor featuring a collective of authentic, design-led products and manufacturers.
